Now that I’m entrenched in the library system – checking books in and out, alphabetizing and counting off the Dewey Decimal system – I’m wondering about my first assessment of it all. I was correct that it is not a high pressure position. I was wrong that there would be down times. I was correct that library employees are special and quirky. I was wrong because they are abnormal. I was also wrong that all of them are the same. I was right that the person is charge gets a little power trip from telling someone to go stack books. All in all, I enjoy being a library employee, quirkiness and all.
