Flowers smell nice and they can be quite sweet. In fact I used to suck the nectar out of a purple flower that grew on a hillside that ran from my house to a gully. There was only one good slurp in them and then they started to taste like plant. Ever experienced the taste plant? It’s a dull and melancholic sensation. It’s almost not a sensation at all. Kind of like eating red leaf lettuce plain, but with less excitement. We’d ride our bikes down the hill into the gully, crash, suck on a few flowers and ride back up again with our new found strength. I never did think that was strange…
