After taking the wider trail to the right the horses slowed. It had begun to snow and now was practically a blizzard. The leader was weary; he couldn’t be that far behind even with the snow. “He won’t find us in this mess!” one said triumphantly. “You have no idea who we are dealing with…” the leader replied. They pushed hard through the driving snow, yet they moved slowly. Cursing and shouting, the other men started to complain. “Quiet, all of you! Now’s the time to be still,” the leader snarled as he scanned the trail in back of them. His stomach tightened, his eyes squinted. “Faster!”
