Washing Machine

Published by swissmarkp at 7:30 pm under Thoughts Edit This

The new washing machine stood in an alcove in the short hallway next to the bathroom. It was new - well new to us anyway. My wife and I purchased it from a used washing machine store, housed in an old, literally falling apart home on the west side. With pride in her eyes my wife decided to use it for the first time. She loaded it with clothes and added soap in the usual manner you would expect. When she turned it on it started to make a lot of noise. It started to shake. Then it started to shutter, it wiggled, then it jiggled and then it waggled. The waggle turned into a saunter. It moved right into the hallway jumping from side to side. Then it suddenly was constrained; it was caught by the plug. It bounced a while more there and then stared to saunter back into the alcove. When it got there it suddenly shuttered – like a person who just got the chills. And just like that it was over. “Errrrrrr!” it sounded. The cycle ended. When I got home my wife said with excitement: “Come check this out!”
