The Soft touch of a Mother

Published by swissmarkp under Poetry Edit This

The soft touch of a mother to her child,
A tender caress from her husband,
A small hand outreached,
A gentle embrace.

A playful growl,
The sound of high-pitched laughter,
A chase through the hallway.
Pitter patter of the little brother follows.

Hiding in blankets and closets,
Running through the Kitchen,
Screaming for dolls and barbies at bedtime.
A little knock at the door in the morning.
“Mama” follows.

“Maaaama, Paaaapa, DONE!”
Toast on the floor and orange juice in her hair,
Her body half out of the highchair.
Breakfast of champions.

The little brother’s balancing act,
The first time on two legs.
Eyes light up,
Smiles everywhere.

The soft touch of a mother to her,
Small hands outreached,
Mama, Papa, child, baby.

Get in the Car

Published by swissmarkp under Poetry Edit This

Get in the car, sit down.
Get in the car, put the seat belt on.
Pull the belt. Move the bag, please.
Get in the car, it’s not that far.
Get in the car, row the window down.
The radio’s on, turn it up.
I can’t hear you, you turned it up.
It’s warm, cause I turned it up.
It’s now too cold, turn it up.
In reverse, move, you’re in my way.
Change the gear, move, good job.
It’s raining, move the wipers.
No, this lever, move this lever, here.
I did, I did.
Back in here, put it in reverse.
Not to fast and not to slow in reverse.
You’ll need to move, this one here.
I’m not finished going in reverse.
Have you ever gone in reverse?
I have, I have.

The topic is: Necktie

Published by swissmarkp under Poetry Edit This

True Love

It goes around the neck.
Crisp, fine and elegant.
Looks good with a vest,
Suit coat and pants too.

Made of Italian silk are my favorite ones,
Greens, blues, reds and pinks.
Power stripes and checkered alike,
Paisley still works too.
It must be made well,
Hand stitched is always good.

Half Windsor and full Windsor are the good knots.
Matched with an oxford shirt with just the right amount of starch,
Not forgetting the spread collar and French cuffs
And any European suit will do:
Perfection.

For work and Masse,
A date with my wife or an interview,
Special occasions and funerals.
To eat and to dance,
The ballet, the symphony, the opera.

It goes around the neck.
Crisp, fine and elegant.
Looks good with a vest
And even looks good in the nude.
